Derya started her professional career in a 30-airplane fleet charter operator as a maintenance planner (A and C checks). She was also airline’s on-site representative during  the performance of the checks. She then joined Turkish Airlines and hold the position of Line Maintenance Outstation Coordinator for America, Far East, Africa and South Europe. Concurrently, she was assigned by the Fleet Asset Management as representative in Boeing or Airbus factories for technical coordination of new aircraft deliveries. Working in a flag-carrier environment for more than 5 years, she had extensive experience on technical records review and technical support for sale and lease back transactions. She also has an MBA degree from Istanbul Kultur University.
