Ideal Maintenance

Tourism is developing. It is one of the most peaceful business lines because it brings people from different geographies and cultures together. We have no doubts that it serves world peace. Such a business model is in demand every period.

For the northern hemisphere, tourism is increasing in May-September, the summer period of the northern zone.

The period showing the increase for the southern hemisphere is the opposite of the northern belt, the period of October-April.

For international and long-haul airlines, this means doing an intensive operation throughout the year. Mediterranean and North African countries in the May-September period, October-April period to organize non-stop tourist transport to the Far East and Ecuador countries.

Each airline would prefer to do its own maintenance. Thus, he can control the costs. However, when attempting to control maintenance costs, a separate loss may occur during periods of inactivity. In order to prevent this, they outsource the maintenance to the maintenance and repair organizations (MRO) that concentrate on this.

The job does not end with giving all the maintenance responsibility to a third party. Which MRO to choose is of course a separate area of expertise. The distance from the area where the aircraft regularly fly will directly affect the costs of ferry and crew, while the capabilities of the MRO to cause additional costs. The scope of the maintenance is also effective in this decision.

Even if the ideal MRO and conditions have been determined, close monitoring of the accompanying team is essential. As a general reflex, MRO gives priority to replacing damaged parts instead of repairing them, by considering the mark-up profits and time saving. A competent team can achieve significant savings within the rules of regulation, making this control in a good way.

All tools, equipment and material used in maintenance and the time allocated to the team is invoiced to the owner of the aircraft. Keeping these items firmly by a competent watchdog and making corrections at necessary points increases the savings.

Having a watchdog but failing to perform these follow-ups at the required speed and accuracy may extend the duration of the maintenance. This delays the return of the aircraft to income-generating operations, resulting in other hidden costs. If the maintenance agreement is for a certain period of time with the MRO, additional fees may be charged for extended periods. This can also lead to loss, while still trying to save money.

In order to ensure that an ideal maintenance is completed in the shortest time and at the lowest cost, it is essential that all these criteria are combined and the whole process is managed by a competent team with optimum speed and durations.
