Airline associations are usually nonprofit organizations seeking to further promoting the industry, advocating for fair taxation and regulations toward environmental responsibility, economic growth and technological advances by coordinating the industry leaders.
A4A (former ATA)
Airlines for America (A4A) advocates on behalf of its members to shape crucial policies and measures that promote safety, security and a healthy U.S. airline industry. A4A collaboratively works with airlines, labor, Congress and the Administration and other groups to improve air travel for everyone.
Airlines for America (A4A), formerly the Air Transport Association (ATA), was the first and remains the only trade organization of the leading U.S. passenger and cargo carriers.
Founded in 1936, the organization played a key role in all major government decisions regarding the aviation industry since its founding, including the creation of the Civil Aeronautics Board, establishment of the air traffic control system and airline deregulation.
AEA
Following the developments in U.S, in 1952, the Presidents of four European airlines – Air France, KLM, Sabena and Swissair – formed a joint research office, which later adopted the name Air Research Bureau. Shortly afterwards, British European Airways – one of the forerunners of British Airways – and SAS joined the group. The six carriers established the Bureau on a permanent basis in 1954.
The Association of European Airlines is a non-profit industry organisation, bringing together 22 major European airlines as the trusted voice of the European airline industry for 60 years.
Based on its extensive knowledge of the industry, AEA is an essential industry platform and is relied upon by policy-makers as a trustworthy contributor to the debates around the decision-making process. AEA works together with the institutions of the European Union and other stakeholders in the value chain to ensure the sustainable growth of the European airline industry in a global marketplace.
TÖSHD
A similar reflection took place in Turkey, too.
stanbul Airlines, Sönmez Airlines, Tour Europe, Akkurt Aviation, Noble Air, Ex CA Director of Turkey, Star Aviation, EM Air, and Nergis Aviation came together in 1989 and set up TÖSHD. Official procedure completed and registered as 34-046/165 number in the same year. Association status was changed on 8 February, 2011 by switching membership from individuals to incorporated body.
TÖSHD, with his member Companies, on one hand contribute Tourism with its Passenger Airlines and their seat capacity, on the other hand stimulate the trade with its Cargo Airlines and their cargo capacities.
Sustainable growth of Tourism owes many things to the Member Companies of TÖSHD in Turkey for more than last ten years. TÖSHD has also strategic importance since the Vision of Turkey in Aviation is to be Training and Maintenance Center in the Region.
